AI Note-Taker overview

5 min read Updated July 1, 2026

The AI Note-Taker drafts progress notes so you spend less time writing and more time with clients. Every draft is yours to review, edit, and approve — nothing is filed without you.

How it works

  1. 1Start a session note and choose your format (SOAP, DAP, or your own template).
  2. 2Capture the session with live transcription, or paste in your own brief notes.
  3. 3mePro drafts a structured note from what it heard or read.
  4. 4Review, edit anything, then sign to finalize.

Staying in control

  • AI produces a draft, never a filed note — you always review before signing.
  • You can edit any sentence, add clinical judgment, or rewrite entirely.
  • Transcription and drafting happen under the same HIPAA-compliant safeguards as the rest of mePro.
  • You can turn AI drafting off and write notes manually at any time.

Tip: Consent matters: make sure your client has agreed to session recording or transcription before you turn it on, and record that consent in their file.

Frequently asked

Is my client's data used to train AI models?

+

No. Client data processed for documentation is not used to train external AI models. It's used only to generate your draft note within your practice.

Do I have to use the AI Note-Taker?

+

Not at all. It's optional. You can write notes manually, use templates, or mix both — the AI is there to speed up a first draft when you want it.
