The technology is only half of a good telehealth session. These habits keep visits private and grounded.
Set the scene
- Use a private, quiet room where you won't be overheard.
- Position your camera at eye level with light in front of you, not behind.
- Confirm the client is somewhere private and safe to talk before you begin.
- Have a backup plan — a phone number to call if the connection drops.
Stay compliant
Confirm the client's location at the start of each session in case of emergency, keep telehealth consent on file, and make sure you're licensed to practice where the client is physically located.
